Christmas comes to Singapore early every year, with festivities getting into full swing from mid November. You’ll get to soak in the holiday mood early, with the official light-up ceremony happening on 16 November, transforming the buzzing lifestyle precinct of Orchard Road into a wonderland of light, sound and colour.

While everyone loves getting Christmas presents, there are gifts that money can’t buy, like love, peace and joy. This year’s light-up celebrates these heartfelt emotions with the theme ‘The Greatest Gift’.

The lights and decorations stretch 3.88 kilometres from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura (including Scotts Road, Grange Road and Orchard Link) and will stay up until 1 January 2020, giving you ample opportunity to soak in the sensory feast.

You can expect the festivities to spill out to the neighbouring streets from 16 to 23 December, with engrossing multimedia performances, Christmas carolling and interactive activities happening along the pedestrian walkway from ION Orchard to Wisma Atria.

What's Unique

Orchard Road festive light up
The Orchard Road Business Association’s (ORBA) Christmas on A Great Street returns to Orchard Road as a hybrid Christmas Light-Up this year, with the theme “Love This Christmas”. The public can enjoy the precinct’s dazzling display of lights and decorations, both physically and virtually, till 1 January 2021. For the first time ever, the public can “drive” along the 2.88-kilometre stretch from Tanglin Mall to Dhoby Ghaut, including Scotts Road, in an all-new virtual 360° tour accessible from Singapore and around the world. Feel the Christmas spirit along Orchard Road, with decorative streetlights and baubles adorning the streets. Brightly-lit snowflakes intertwined with mistletoe and hollies in white, gold and blue will be strung across the sub-precincts of Somerset, Orchard and Tanglin, while Christmas ornaments and white and gold baubles will hang from trees and lampposts that line the boulevard. Taking centre stage is a shimmering main arch adorned with a gigantic blue ribbon and festooned with glittering reindeer and hollies, at the Orchard-Paterson Road junction.

Black Friday
Presenting the first-ever Orchard Road Hybrid Shopping Festival, happening from 27 November to 29 November 2020. Besides just promoting the best deals for Black Friday 2020, the live-streamed content will also showcase the unique key features of Orchard Road including lifestyle, art and the community. This project will kickstart Orchard Road’s online retail experience for visitors by using technology to show locals and potential visitors what the precinct has to offer. This will also pave the way for more virtual shopping experiences in the near future, while providing incentives to shoppers to shop offline. While live streaming has been popular in the market in recent months, a Precinct Hybrid Live Studio will be the first of its kind in Singapore where cultural, heritage and latest trends will be presented in an interactive live-stream format targeted to both locals and international audience.
