The event featured 216 exhibiting brands and drew participation from 16 of the world’s top 20 global travel retailers, including industry giants such as China Duty Free, Avolta, and Heinemann. The event was also attended by representatives from leading Asian airports such as Tokyo International Airport (Tokyo-Haneda), India’s Indira Ghandi International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.
TFWA Managing Director Franck Waechter highlighted Singapore’s significance to the organisation, not only as a long time host city but also as a strategic gateway to Asia Pacific — the world’s largest travel retail market – and a major hub for the duty-free and travel retail industry in the region.
“Singapore is very special to us,” said Waechter. “It's in the middle of Asia. It's very convenient from across the region to come and gather here. We want to be at the centre of the biggest travel retail market – Asia Pacific.”
Waechter described TFWA APE&C as a key platform for connecting airports, operators, and brands, with over 200 exhibitors and around 1,500 brands participating in 2025. He also highlighted the presence of many major brands’ regional headquarters as another key factors that make Singapore, at the heart of Asia Pacific’s travel retail market, an ideal and convenient host city.
Indeed, the likes of L’Oreal, Shiseido, Brown Forman, and LVMH Beauty are several of the global leading brands to have anchored their regional operations in Singapore and were represented at the event.
The event was strongly supported by partners, including the Changi Airport Group, Marina Bay Sands, Avolta and China Duty Free Group, as well as the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau.
TFWA APE&C 2025 opened with a welcome cocktail on 11 May at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay. Themed “Enchanted Gardens”, delegates at the reception enjoyed exclusive access to the Flower Dome, a cooled conservatory of how nature is reimagined through engineering and architectural innovations.
“We're seeing great innovation, not just in retail, in the whole passenger experience, both landside and airside, driven by Changi Airport. It is a global benchmark,” said Managing Director of Portland Design Ibrahim Ibrahim.
The TFWA APE&C 2025 saw a record turnout of Asia Pacific exhibitors including the biggest global players such as L'oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific, SK-II Group, Brown Forman, Travel Blue, La Prairie, Suntory Global Spirits, Lacoste and Swarovski.
Singapore’s strategic location in Asia Pacific and proximity to the rapidly-growing end markets like Southeast Asia, India and China, as well as a vibrant and supportive innovation ecosystem have fuelled the travel retail industry to thrive. In fact, Singapore was the TFWA’s first port of call to launch its first Asia Pacific APE&C in 1995, capitalising on the city’s pro-business environment and global connectivity as a top aviation hub to open markets for businesses and shape travel consumption trends.
As aptly summed up by TFWA President, Frank Waechter, “We are looking forward to continue our journey here in Singapore.”
