It may be summer all year round in Singapore, but Yuletide spirits are in full swing at Garden by the Bay’s Christmas extravaganza.
With Christmas markets, carols and the big man Santa Claus himself, Christmas at Gardens by the Bay is magical fun. The annual Christmas Wonderland is a must-see highlight of Singapore’s exciting year-end celebrations, bringing festive cheer to more than three million visitors of all ages since its debut in 2014. Watch the gardens come alive with large-scale illuminations at night, while you soak in the festive fun.
Step into a massive wonderland in the tropics at Gardens by the Bay this Christmas, with festivities that take up the space of almost five soccer fields. Marvel at the star of the show, the stunning luminarie light sculptures that are handmade by craftsmen from Italy and a dazzling sight to behold for both kids and adults alike.
Turning heads every year is the Spalliera, Southeast Asia’s tallest luminarie which towers the festival at seven storeys high. Here, you can also experience the magical snowfall during the nightly Blizzard Time. If you miss one session, fret not–there are five sessions you can catch each day. Then, pose for photos next to Asia’s tallest Christmas tree, a 13-metre sculpture that’s a dazzling new addition to the event this year.
Carnival games and rides
Immerse in the nostalgic carnival ambience with rides on traditional fairground favourites such as the carousel, Christmas train and spinning tea cups. For those who prefer to take things up a notch, buckle up for a ride in bumper cars or water bumper boats. With 19 carnival games and rides to choose from, there’s something for everyone in your entourage.
Skating Under the Stars
Don your skates for a spin around a synthetic skating rink at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay. Making the experience at the Swiss rink that much more special is that it is framed by festive luminarie light sculptures under the stars. Give it a go with the whole family–the skating rink is child-friendly and priority will be given to children.
Your winter entertainment continues with a new circus act in town. Plunge into a spectacle of contortions and gravity-defying stunts, set against the rhythms of Africa, with Circus Abyssinia Presents Ethiopian Dreams. The performance is not available on Mondays, except on Christmas Monday (25 Dec).
For the first time at Christmas Wonderland, you get to meet the man himself! Pay Santa Claus a visit at Santa’s Grotto, an Alpine house decked in pinewood. Pose for pictures outside with the whole family, decorated as it is with reindeer and even a sled. Stand a chance to participate in a lucky draw when you visit this free attraction.
Experience a traditional European Christmas market at the annual Festive Market. Wander through 24 specially designed wooden huts inspired by renowned Christmas markets like Hyde Park in London and the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Shop for one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts and crafts from local brands. With traditional Christmas treats and food, the bustling market is a treat for the senses.
