Singapore was ranked Asia's top convention city for the 13th consecutive year in the 2014 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) rankings.

Amid tough international competition, Singapore has once again retained the top spot amongst Asian cities in the ICCA rankings. The ICCA specialises in the international association meetings sector and publishes the global statistics report annually. For 2014, Singapore performed well, hosting 142 ICCA events and finishing seventh in the overall ranking of convention cities.

This is testament to Singapore's international appeal, strategic location and access to key Asian markets, which provides a strong impetus for organisers to hold their events here. Singapore was also ranked among the top 18 most innovative cities in the world, and has "the best infrastructure in the world" according to Business Insider in August 2014.

The Singapore Tourism Board continues to host and attract international MICE events to keep Singapore a prime convention destination. In 2015, it saw first-in-Asia conference like the prestigious World Confederation of Physical Therapy Congress and will be hosting the European Society for Medical Oncology Asia Congress in December 2015.

Most recently, Singapore performed well to clinch two highly sought after events. The Lions Club International Convention 2020 that is expected to generate more than S$58 million in tourism receipts and attract 20,000 foreign attendees, making it the largest association congress ever to be held in Singapore. In addition, Singapore secured the World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems 2019, expected to generate more than S$10 million in tourism receipts and attract over 5,000 foreign attendees.

Singapore continues to be committed to delivering quality service to the meetings industry. As a member of the BestCities Global Alliance, the world's first convention bureau alliance, Singapore and the 11 partner cities also contributed to fantastic overall results of hosting a total of 935 international meetings.

With a vibrant cityscape that is safe, well connected and technologically advanced, Singapore will continue to punch above its weight as a prime destination for international MICE events.
