The Offshore Southeast Asia Conference and Exhibition (OSEA2016), Asia’s premier oil and gas industry exhibition and conference, returned to Singapore and was held at the Sands Expo® and Convention Centre from 29 November to 2 December 2016.

The 21st edition saw the participation of 18,000 trade attendees comprising exhibitors, visitors, conference speakers and delegates gathering together to network, learn and keep abreast on the latest industry developments. More than 1,000 exhibitors from 48 countries/regions and 17 international group pavilions from countries including Australia, Korea, the Netherlands, Italy and Scotland were present to showcase their latest innovative solutions for the industry.

Tech innovations to improve business sustainability

Responding to the trend among oil and gas firms making reducing operational costs and increasing capital efficiency their top priority, the latest edition of OSEA2016 offered an extensive range of equipment, innovations and services designed to lower reliance on human capital, increase personal safety, improve communication and data networks.

“Undoubtedly, the last two years have been challenging, as the industry has had to get used to a new environment of lower oil prices. Over this period, we have seen a major shift in firms streamlining operations and seeking out efficiency to drive costs down and survive in this market. With that in mind, we have ensured that OSEA2016 is a place where businesses can find innovative technologies, sustainable solutions, insights and strategies that will help ease pressure on the bottom line,” says Chua Buck Cheng, Project Director from OSEA organiser Singapore Exhibition Services.

Tech innovations showcased on the exhibition floor included a first-of-its-kind IoT device by Rutledge Omni Services, a leading provider of safety services for upstream drilling and exploration activities in the region that allows real-time personnel tracking on an oilrig.

Co-located events

Featured alongside OSEA2016 for the first time was the inaugural edition of SUBSEA Asia 2016 which threw the spotlight on the latest subsea equipment and services. Leading experts shared insights at the SUBSEA Asia Conference on topics ranging from market outlook to managing costs, efficiency and deep-water projects.

OGmTech2016 also returned for its second edition alongside OSEA2016 to present advanced manufacturing solutions dedicated to the oil and gas industry.

To create enhanced opportunities for visitors to find out more about exhibitors’ offerings, OSEAS2016 launched the OSEA2016 Tech Garage, a series of knowledge-sharing sessions which consisted of interesting product demonstrations and presentations conducted by industry leaders on new product launches and solutions.

Presented in an all-new masterclass format, the OSEA2016 International Conference detailed techno-commercial learning that offered delegates an interactive learning experience. The conference featured 13 masterclass sessions and were led by industry experts from ConocoPhillips, Shell, Fjords Processing and Herrenknecht Vertical among others.

A highlight of the OSEA2016 International Conference was the combined morning plenary sessions which saw ambassadors to Singapore and government officials from Australia, Norway, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom touching on the developments of oil and gas in their respective countries as well as outlining collaborative opportunities with major firms in the region.

Another new feature in the conference format was the launch of the first and only LNG processing technology conference in Asia – LNG EquipTech Asia, a dedicated one-day track covering the technical aspects of cost effective LNG processing and transporting. The conference also included an overseas site visit to the Profab fabrication yard in Batam, Indonesia, where delegates had the opportunity to witness first-hand the fabrication steps and processes.

“OSEA is a very complete, all rounded exhibition. It is a one-stop destination that perpetuates the growth of my business. The exhibitors are warm and friendly which helped ensure smooth and fast transactions. I have expanded my connections and widened my exposure to many new innovations which will definitely be beneficial for my company,” said Yeh Kuo Ching, Chen-Chian Marine Engineering, Taiwan.
