It is easy to get active in Singapore, with its busy calendar of year-round sporting events.

Those keen to break a sweat and challenge themselves can sign up for a variety of endurance sports events, ranging in themes and catering to various fitness levels.

The best part? They’ll take you to all corners of Singapore for a different perspective of the cityscape while keeping you motivated to exercise.

Conferred Gold Label status by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore offers arguably one of the most scenic running routes in Singapore. It’ll take you past various iconic landscapes in the city, such as the stunning Marina Bay area, the stately Civic District, and along the breezy East Coast.

The full marathon is 42.195 kilometre-long, but participants can also opt for the half-marathon (21.1km), the 10-kilometre run, or team up with friends and run the relay ekiden (a Japanese term for long-distance relay running races). There’s also something for the little ones—young budding athletes can participate in the 600-metre kids’ dash.

The Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore takes place in December. Sign up or find out more on the official website.

This one’s for the insomniacs and night owls. Sleep can wait when you sign up for the Sundown Marathon, which takes place overnight and is Singapore’s first, and Asia’s largest, night marathon. See the city in a different light as you pass iconic locations after dark, while enjoying the cool night air.

Even if you don’t feel up to the 42.195 kilometre length of a full marathon, this sports event includes a 5km run, a 10km run, 10km team run and a half-marathon (21.1km) that you can sign up for. There’s even a fun run that kids can enjoy.

This immense annual gathering of running enthusiasts also involves a wide variety of fringe activities. Enjoy carnival games, tasty bites from pop-up food stalls and live music performances, as you cool down after testing your limits. Best of all, proceeds from your running and revelry will go to charity.
