What to see
National Library Singapore
22 July 2005 marked a new chapter in the history of National Library Singapore, after its move from the ‘Red Bricks’ building at Stamford Road. With the new building seating pristinely at 100 Victoria Street, the heart of Singapore’s art and learning hub; this invaluable oasis of information is the largest library in Singapore with a collection of about 650,000 items. The National Library building has also won many accolades for its design innovation and green features. At a first glance, you will be struck by how the fluid curves of its all-white panels set against the tall glass windows, evokes a sense of flight, imagination and infinite possibilities.

The National Library building consists of two blocks which house the library collections and spaces for programmes and exhibitions. There are two main libraries located within the National Library Singapore: the Central Public Library (where books can be borrowed) is at Basement 1, while the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library (where materials are purely for reference within the library) occupy Levels 7-13 and offers a full range of services, such as access to electronic databases, document delivery service, reprography, microfilm and audio-visual access.

Whether you are a first time visitor or a regular visitor, the National Library warmly invites you to explore and acquaint yourself with its facilities, collections and other features, which is open and free for all. Indeed the new National Library is a feast for the mind as well as the eyes.
