The international design scene is looking East, attracted to its unlimited market potential, vast talent pools and a burgeoning design culture. Asia Pacific is the largest growing market for furniture. The Furniture and Floorcoverings market in Asia Pacific is set to forecast revenues of US$266.8bil by 2018 (Conlumino 2014). Asia also features heavily on the list of target cities for retail brands looking to enter new markets (CBRE 2015). As a design hub in the region, Singapore is perfectly positioned to be the gateway between Asia and the rest of the world.
Asia's design gateway
From architecture and interiors to fashion and retail, Singapore is Asia's launchpad to the international design market. Singapore's growing presence in the design market is marked by the variety of world-class design meetings and conferences in the country.
Centre of design expertise
Singapore is the hub for arts, culture, business and technology in the region. Global giants such as Procter & Gamble, Electrolux, Porsche Design Studio and Tupperware Brands have set up design centres in the country to develop products specifically tailored for the Asian market.
Setting the world stage
Singapore's MICE events bring together buyers and sellers from all around the world for business transactions. International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) 2015 attracted 487 exhibitors from a record 39 countries, and more than 18,800 visitors from across 102 countries. In 2014, Singapore Design Week was launched, bringing together events such as IFFS, M&O Asia, furniPRO Asia, the Good Mark Design Awards, Singapore Design Awards, and Singapore Design Business Summit.
