The Return of the 3-in-1 Urban Solutions Week
The fifth edition of the World Cities Summit (WCS), seventh edition of the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) and the third edition of the CleanEnviro Summit Singapore (CESS) were once again held concurrently at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands®, from 10 to 14 July 2016.
These events provided government and industry leaders an integrated global platform to share solutions for sustainable urban development and the latest innovations in water and clean environment solutions. The co-location of the three events enabled exhibitors and participants to explore synergies as well as network and forge partnerships with a wide range of global industry leaders, policy makers and experts. Together, these three events showcased Singapore’s global thought leadership in sustainable development.
World Cities Summit
The WCS is the premier platform for government leaders and industry experts to address challenges cities face in remaining liveable and sustainable as they develop, as they share integrated urban solutions and forge new partnerships. Themed 'Liveable & Sustainable Cities: Innovative Cities of Opportunity', this year's Summit explored how cities can better govern and build resilience through policy, technology and social innovations.
WCS is the catalyst for a number of co-located events that includes government-to-government collaborations, public-private partnerships and project announcements, site visits and community activities.
Key highlights of the Summit included the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, the World Cities Summit Mayors Forum and the Young Leaders Symposium. Delegates had the opportunity to network with and hear from some 3,000 government and industry leaders, experts, officials and practitioners.
Singapore International Water Week
Since its inception in 2008, SIWW has established itself as the premier global platform to showcase the latest science and technology solutions for urban water management, against the challenging macro backdrop of climate change, population growth, and rapid urbanisation.
SIWW 2016 gathered leaders and stakeholders from the global water industry to share best practices and expertise to leverage business opportunities.
This year’s Water Expo@ City Solutions Singapore was also the largest ever, featuring two new highlights – the Smart Water Solutions Showcase and Forum and the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Showcase and Forum.
