SkillsFuture Study Awards to focus on building talent to enhance competitiveness of MICE industry
Singaporeans working in the Hotel, Meeting, Incentive Travel, Convention and Exhibition (MICE), Travel Agent and Tourist Guide industries can now take advantage of a new study award launched by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in October 2016.
The SkillsFuture Study Awards aims to help the Singapore workforce take ownership of their own skills upgrading and to deepen specialist skills in future economic growth sectors and in areas of demand.
It can be used to defray course fees and out-of-pocket training expenses for tourism sector courses, professional certification and advanced language courses, depending on the industry focus.
Continual growth of Singapore’s MICE industry
In 2015, Singapore received more than 3 million business and MICE visitors. Evidently, Asia’s robust economic growth has led to continual growth in Singapore’s Business Travel and MICE industry as Singapore remains an appealing destination for MICE organisers due to its excellent air connectivity, vibrant business ecosystem, robust economic sectors and knowledge networks, and diverse leisure activities.
Through public-private sector collaborations, Singapore continues to build and attract a robust pipeline of events and establish thought-leadership through new compelling content. The city-state is looking forward to an even stronger momentum in the year ahead with both returning events and new ones.
