Background: A refurbished 1960s two-storey bungalow, Centre 42 is great for smaller events that require participants to think and discuss, generate ideas and develop their work. It is the ideal venue for artists or writers workshops, discussion groups and meetings as it is removed from the bustle of Singapore.
Amenities: It has three main spaces:
Rehearsal Studio - Located on the ground floor of the main building. It is air-conditioned with carpeted flooring and suitable for rehearsals and workshops.
Meeting Room - Located on the ground floor of the extension behind the main building. This is more versatile as it can be partitioned into two rooms. It is air-conditioned and has mirrors lining two walls. It is ideal for meetings, rehearsals, and as an F&B reception area for events. It opens out into the courtyard, which could also be used as an open-air venue for pre- or post-event cocktails.
Black Box - Located on the second floor, this can accommodate 80 people comfortably. It is a customisable space with a foyer for pre- or post-event cocktails or unwinding.
Support Amenities: A portable PA system, projector and screen are available for hire.
Additional advantages: It is easily accessible via the Bras Basah MRT station, and is near the artistic hub of Waterloo Street. Singapore Art Museum, SAM at 8Q, National Museum, Chjimes, Raffles Hotel, among others, are all walking distance.
