At the six shops highlighted below, fashion and functionality meet through the use of sustainable materials and processes. Do your bid to save the Earth while you shop (green) until you drop.
At Amado Gudek, you’re bound to go home with a unique piece of bling to add to your collection—from necklaces with pendants of tea leaves and flower petals cast in resin to “healing jewels”, each piece of Amado Gudek’s eye-catching jewellery (from SGD 35) is hand-crafted from scratch, so no two are alike.
The brand uses bio-resins and biodegradable plastics to make its statement pieces. Unlike petroleum-based resins, bio-resins contain renewable materials that are sourced from the waste of other industries, such as wood pulping and bio-fuels production. The result? A process that reduces carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions as well as water and power consumption.

The first local childrenswear brand to be certified by Global Organic Textile Standard, which lays out comprehensive social and ecological criteria for textile processing, Kalila Organics makes high-quality sustainable garments (about SGD 9-30) for kids. Its mission is to create a line of clothing that is safe for both the people making it and the little ones wearing it.
For instance, the brand uses a ‘seed-to-shop’ process of sourcing its material. The cotton it uses comes from farms in India that do not use pesticides and GMOs, which means the cotton-pickers and those wearing the clothes are not exposed to toxins. The togs themselves, which span across age ranges from new-borns up to two-year-olds, come in a variety of colours and fun prints that feel as good as they look. Thanks to Kalila Organics’ cotton, the apparel is safe for kids who have sensitive skin.
