Do you know that, on average, a goat produces around three litres of milk a day? Over at goat farm Hay Dairies, you can witness the milking process, which takes place only once a day. Kids can experience how sociable and amicable the mammal can be. Rounding off, sample the preservative-free, freshly-produced goat milk that comes in both original and chocolate flavours. Drop by for a free and easy tour anytime from 9am to 10:30am (no bookings required), but keep in mind that the place is closed every Tuesday (except public holidays).
Ride a pony at Gallop Stable
Give horse riding a go at Gallop Stable, where you can choose from a wide range of lessons for budding equestrians of all ages. Here, you can get a horse-riding experience that’s affordable and hassle-free, no expensive membership required. There are 20-minute pony joy rides and camps where the young ’uns can get acquainted with the various horse breeds. For the adults, enjoy a leisurely 60-minute trot on the trail along the Fairways Green Track or the Fairways Sand Ring.
Feed the rabbits at Animal Resort
Escape from the urban bustle at Animal Resort. Kids can get up close and personal with their favourite furry friends: they’ll get to feed rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, roosters and other critters. Take a walk around and you'll see plenty of birds, such as crowned cranes and geese, roaming around the premises. Put your knowledge to the test and try to distinguish the passing peacocks and peahens. Admission is free, but you’ll have to pay for animal feed.
Play with kitties at Cat Cafe Neko no Niwa
Cat cafés aren’t just a Japanese thing – now you can find a handful of them in Singapore! Head to Cat Cafe Neko no Niwa, which is home to 13 loveable felines. Cosy up for that much-needed dose of cat therapy – you’ll get to pet these affectionate adopted house cats and play with them using the many toys available. Shower them with lots of affection, but remember to follow the rules and respect the cats – it’s best to let snoozing kitties lie, after all. If you’re looking for an extra relaxing experience, Cat Café Neko no Niwa hosts a ‘yoga with cats’ programme. You can also drop by for a quick lunch break – light bites and beverages like coffee and canned drinks are available.
