Up-close snaps from the city

Set up your tripods and await the burst of fireworks that light up the city centre during Singapore’s National Day on 9 August and the New Year Eve’s countdown. These spots are close to the epicentre of both celebrations, which happen at NS Square, the Marina Bay floating platform.

Merlion Park

At the Merlion Park, you will enjoy a front-row view of a colourful fireworks display against a stunning skyline. Housed at the waterfront park is a statue of the Merlion, Singapore’s mythical national icon. Come down early, pose for a photo and watch as others get creative with their shots that could rival tourist photos from The Leaning Tower of Pisa. Then set your camera up along the steps that open to a waterfront for a prime view of the show.

On National Day, you’ll also get to set your eyes on a military aerial display of planes zipping across the sky before the fireworks showdown. Best of all, you’ll see fireworks light up the sky with the iconic structures of Marina Bay Sands® and ArtScience Museum™ as backdrop.

Walk amongst futuristic looking metal Supertrees, standing at 25-50 metres tall and intertwined with 200 species of plants from all over the world. Discover a breath-taking array of flora and fauna at the world's largest greenhouse complex—the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest—made up of two soaring, irregular glass domes.

After a day of exploring the garden, wind down at Marina Barrage and enjoy the fireworks while lazing on the grass patch. Don’t forget to bring some snacks if you intend to hang around longer.
